This is situated in the famous and well-known Ehelapola Walawwa in Ratnapura. The museum displays a lot of the pre-history of Sri Lanka. Ratnapura which means 'city of gems' is the main centre for gem-mining in Sri Lanka and the process of gem-mining is displayed through a model in the museum. Some of the artefacts displayed in the Museum highlight the unique art and culture of the Sabaragamuwa province.
