Varanasi weaver’s children in distress: SOS to the rescue
Eleven year old Prabhu along with his sisters Chandini, 10 and Suman, 5 have seen much for their tender years. Coming from a struggling Varanasi weaver’s family they saw the family lose its source of livelihood. In just a year they lost three of their siblings and mother due to extreme deprivation and illness. With their coming to the care of the Varanasi Children’s Village, a new life has begun for them in the security of a nurturing home and family. Prabhu is now in class V at the SOS Hermann Gmeiner School, Varanasi. Within a short span he has caught up with his classmates and once again leads his siblings as an elder brother.
